Who We Are

We are the Manx Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club, a non-profit sporting organisation. Our website address is: https://www.manxparagliders.com (the ”Site”).

What Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It

We understand that privacy online is important to users of our Site. This statement governs our privacy policies with respect to those users of the Site (”Visitors”) who visit without transacting business and Visitors who register to transact business on the Site and make use of the various services offered by Manx Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club (collectively, ”Services”) (”Authorised Users”).

”Personally Identifiable Information”

refers to any information that identifies or can be used to identify, contact, or locate the person to whom such information pertains, including but not limited to, name, address, phone number, fax number and email address. Personally Identifiable Information does not include information that is collected anonymously (that is, without identification of the individual user) or demographic information not connected to an identified individual.

What Personally Identifiable Information is collected?

We may collect basic user profile information from all of our Visitors. We collect the following additional information from our Authorised Users: the names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses of Authorised Users as well as other relevant information.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Gravatar

The Gravatar service enables users to upload a profile picture so that the user’s photograph may be displayed alongside comments made on websites making use of the Gravatar service. To provide this service, an anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images containing embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact Forms

We have a number of contact forms on our site and the information collected on each form depends on the purpose of the form. Our general Contact Form requests your name, e-mail address and the subject matter that you wish to discuss with us in order that we can respond to you if required.

Our Memebership Form requests the information we need to enrol you as a member of the Club. This includes your personal contact information, details of your flying qualifications, national association membership and other relevant information.

What organisations are collecting the information?

In addition to our direct collection of information, some third party service providers may collect information . We do not control how these third parties use such information but we do ask them to disclose how they use personal information provided to them from Visitors and Authorised Users. Some of these third parties may be intermediaries that do not store, retain, or use the information given to them.

How does the Site use Personally Identifiable Information?

We use Personally Identifiable Information to customise the Site, to make appropriate service offerings and to fulfill buying and selling requests on the Site. We may email Visitors and Authorised Users about matters related to the subject matter of the Site. We may also use Personally Identifiable Information to contact Visitors and Authorised Users in response to specific enquiries, or to provide requested information.

With whom may the information may be shared?

Personally Identifiable Information will only be used by the Club for administrative purposes or with other parties only with the direct consent of the Authorised User. We may share aggregated information about our Visitors, including the demographics of our Visitors and Authorised Users, with our affiliated agencies and third party vendors. We also offer the opportunity to ”opt out” of receiving information or being contacted by us or by any agency acting on our behalf.

How is Personally Identifiable Information stored?

Personally Identifiable Information collected by Manx Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club is securely stored and is not accessible to third parties or employees of Manx Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club except for use as indicated above.

What choices are available to Visitors regarding collection, use and distribution of the information?

Visitors and Authorised Users may opt out of receiving information from or being contacted by us and / or affiliated agencies by responding to emails as instructed, or by contacting us by postal mail at Strawberry Cottage, Glen Mona, Ramsey Isle of Man IM7 1HF, British Isles.

Are Cookies Used on the Site?

We use Cookies to obtain information about the preferences of our Visitors and the services they select. We also use Cookies for security purposes to protect our Authorised Users. For example, if an Authorised Users is logged on and the site is unused for more than a pre-determined period of time, we will automatically log the Authorised Users off.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

What partners or service providers have access to Personally Identifiable Information from Visitors and / or Authorised Users on the Site?

Manx Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club only enters into arrangements with third parties when absolutely necessary. Such parties may have access to certain Personally Identifiable Information on a need to know basis for evaluating Authorised Users for service eligibility. Our privacy policy does not cover their collection or use of this information.

Disclosure of Personally Identifiable Information to comply with law

We will only disclose Personally Identifiable Information in order to comply with a court order or subpoena or a request from a law enforcement agency to release information where deemed to have sufficient merit. We will also disclose Personally Identifiable Information when reasonably necessary to protect the safety of our Visitors and Authorised Users.

How does the Site keep Personally Identifiable Information secure?

The Personally Identifiable Information of our Visitors and Authorised Users is only accessible to a limited number of club officers who are given a password in order to gain access to the information.

We audit our security systems and processes on a regular basis. Sensitive information is protected by encryption protocols, in place to protect information sent over the Internet.

While we take all reasonable measures to maintain a secure site, electronic communications and databases are subject to errors, tampering and break-ins and we cannot guarantee or warrant that such events will not take place and we will not be liable to Visitors or Authorised Users for any such occurrences.

How can Visitors correct any inaccuracies in Personally Identifiable Information?

Visitors and Authorised Users may contact us to update Personally Identifiable Information about them or to correct any inaccuracies by emailing us using our Contact Form.

How Long We Retain Your Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information that they provide in their user profile. Users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also view and edit that information.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

What happens if the Privacy Policy Changes?

We will let our Visitors and Authorised Users know about changes to our privacy policy by posting such changes on the Site. However, if we are changing our privacy policy in a manner that might cause disclosure of Personally Identifiable Information that a Visitor or Authorised Users has previously requested not be disclosed, we will contact such Visitor or Authorised User to allow such Visitor or Authorised User to prevent such disclosure.
